Spa Bath Remodel
Spa Bath Remodel
This couple splits their time between New York City and Mint Hill, so we used contemporary NYC hotels as our inspiration for this spa bathroom remodel. As part of their healthy lifestyle, they were frequent visitors to various gyms and health clubs. To recreate a spa-like atmosphere where they could recover from their workouts at home, incorporating a steam shower into the bathroom design was a must-have feature. The general layout worked well and didn’t require a custom redesign, but we traded the brown and brass tones for bright white and chrome to give it a clean, spacious, and modern feel.
The freestanding bathtub takes up less floor space than the heavy deck mounted one they had previously, but at six feet in length, it’s long enough for a tall man to soak comfortably.
Drawers are a functional way to eliminate counter clutter. Since the width of the vanities couldn’t be changed, every inch was put to good use. A narrow pull-out cabinet for supplements and medications, a linen cabinet and a seated vanity space with hardwired make-up mirror provide additional storage beyond the drawer space.
Contrast Brings a Design to Life
The trick to creating a spa-like atmosphere is just a touch of contrast. While the walls, shower tile, counters and fixtures are all shades of white, we chose a taupe floor tile and dark stained vanities to keep the space from feeling sterile and cold.
