Sunroom Addition

Sunroom Addition

Both avid gardeners, this Huntersville couple enlisted our help to design and construct a sunroom addition to the back of their home where they could enjoy views of their garden year-round. As a second access point to the garden from the house, a place for houseplants to flourish in winter months, and an indoor gardening room, the new sunroom addition serves multiple functions. We pulled inspiration from a treasured family heirloom, “Papa’s Bench”. Built in the 1930’s and passed down through generations of family, the bench now rests proudly in the new sunroom addition where it serves as an indoor potting station. It was important to this couple that the space remained flexible and casual, so it could be utilized in various ways throughout the changing seasons. Filled with lush houseplants during the winter months, the new four-season room feels like a warm, semi-tropical paradise.

“ReVision was introduced to us by a neighbor. Their glowing recommendation was spot on… They listened carefully and presented a number of options for us to consider. The construction team was attentive, friendly and professional. They take great pride in their work and were more particular that we were in achieving the perfect addition to our home. We highly recommend ReVision to anyone considering a remodel in their home.”

Sunroom Additions Need Sun

High on the must-have list was as much natural light as possible. They wanted to feel like they were outside, from the comfort of their home. To mimic a wall of steel windows (without the steel window price tag) they chose aluminum clad casement windows that we painted black to match the trim.

For maximum light, we installed a large square glass lantern to the roof—a first for us—which had to be brought in on a boom crane. It took many pairs of steady hands to get the lantern secured to the roof without damaging it, the new roof, or the landscaping. It was a pretty exciting day for all involved.

Now they have a flexible indoor-outdoor living space that provides access to their gardens, an easy-to-clean prep space, and additional heated square footage where they can enjoy warm, light-filled, garden views from the house in the winter.
