Uptown Renewal
Uptown Renewal
This uptown Charlotte condo kitchen underwent a complete transformation from a compact, closed-off space into an open, inviting hub perfect for two cooks. By removing a dividing wall, we created a seamless flow into the living area and introduced a freestanding, furniture-style island that adds both function and charm. A new seating area near the window was also added. The new glass hutch with integrated lighting and floral wallpaper brings a touch of whimsy, while the custom hood alcove with built-in niches keeps essentials like olive oil and cookbooks within easy reach. Painted in Sherwin-Williams “Garden Gate,” the cabinetry’s muted green pairs beautifully with the warm stained wood tones, creating a sophisticated yet personal aesthetic that reflects the homeowners’ playful love of animal-inspired details.
To open up the space, we had to bring in an engineer to safely remove a load-bearing wall that originally separated the kitchen from the living area. This step was crucial to ensure the structural integrity of the condo while allowing for a much more functional layout. The result was well worth it, creating a bright, open kitchen that comfortably accommodates two cooks at once. Removing the wall not only expanded the space but also allowed us to incorporate features like the freestanding island and custom hutch seamlessly.
