Basement Theater, Game Room & Wet Bar in Myers Park
Designed to bring family and friends together, this impressive basement transformation earned Best Basement Between $100,000–$250,000 at the 2022 Remodeler of the Year (RotY) Awards. What was once an underutilized space is now a sophisticated, multi-purpose entertainment retreat that seamlessly balances comfort, functionality, and fun.
The homeowners, longtime repeat clients, envisioned a space that could accommodate everything from cozy movie nights with their young daughter to lively Michigan–Ohio State and Super Bowl parties with dozens of friends. To bring their vision to life, our team divided the spacious L-shaped basement into distinct entertainment zones, allowing guests to eat, drink, socialize, and enjoy the game from nearly every corner of the room.
The existing wet bar received a stylish refresh, while an unused nook near the shuffleboard table was transformed into a dry bar complete with an additional beverage center and popcorn station. Tiered CinemaTech theater seating and a raised bar for snacks create an immersive viewing experience, while an adjoining screened porch, equipped with a fourth television, extends the entertainment outdoors.
The result is an award-winning basement that effortlessly transitions from intimate family evenings to large-scale gatherings, demonstrating how thoughtful design and personalized details can elevate everyday living.
Audiovisual Collaboration
We collaborated at length with their audiovisual team to create a truly customizable, top-notch experience. A video matrix was installed with four individual sources for each of the four televisions. This allows them to have four separate games on each screen if desired. When they’re all on the same game, all the screens sync together with an echo or interference.
The size of the projector was determined based on the desired screen size and how far back it would sit from the screen. Because our clients wanted the projector to be hidden by the soffit and structural column instead of in the center of the space, it utilizes a lens shift capability to keep the picture centered.
