A Quick Note About the Numbers

To help illustrate our payment process, the examples below are based on a $250,000 remodeling project. Your actual payment amounts will vary depending on your project’s size and scope, but the overall payment structure remains the same.

THE PAYMENT PROCESS

Six Simple Steps

STEP 1 Initial Consultation

During this visit we’ll:

  • Learn about your goals
  • Discuss budget and timeline
  • Determine if we’re the right fit
  • Answer your questions

PAYMENT DUE: NONE

For a typical $250,000 remodeling project, most Design Agreements fall around $10,000, although the exact amount depends on the complexity of your project.

Projects involving multiple rooms, additions, or several design concepts generally require more design and planning.

What this payment does:

  • Reserves your place in our schedule
  • Begins Design & Development
  • Covers design exploration
  • Allows us to begin detailed planning

Good to Know

Good to Know

100% credited toward your final construction contract

Not an additional design fee

Non-refundable once work begins

Step 2 Design Agreement

TYPICAL INVESTMENT

$5,000–$10,000

Step 3 Construction Commitment

Typical Investment

10% of the anticipated construction cost

Example:

Estimated Project Cost$250,000
Construction Commitment$25,000

At this point, you’ve typically invested about $35,000, all of which is applied toward your overall project.

Why We Ask For This

This payment represents a commitment from both sides.

It allows us to:

  • Finalize engineering
  • Complete construction planning
  • Begin procurement
  • Reserve production time

It also provides peace of mind by establishing your project budget within approximately ±7% before moving into a fixed-price contract.

Once planning is complete, you’ll receive a Fixed Price Contract outlining the final cost of your remodel.

At this stage:

  • Previous payments are credited toward your contract
  • Your remaining balance is divided into progress payments
  • Payments are based on project milestones—not arbitrary dates

Step 4 Fixed Price Contract

Step 5 Construction Progress Payments

Rather than paying everything upfront, payments are made as your project progresses.

Most projects include:

4–8 progress payments

Each payment corresponds with completed work and big remodeling milestones (think framing, tiling, countertops, etc.)  and keeps both you and ReVision aligned throughout construction.

Our Philosophy

“We never want to be significantly ahead of our clients financially, and we never want our clients significantly ahead of the work being completed. Our payment schedule is designed to keep both parties moving forward together.”

Adam BolingerVP of Project Development

The final payment is due when your project reaches substantial completion. For every project, we retain a small final payment—typically $5,000—until the end.

This ensures:

  • Final walkthroughs are completed
  • Punch list items are addressed
  • Your remodel is ready for you to enjoy

Step 6 Final Payment

Why is the Design Agreement non-refundable?

The Design Agreement deposit is non-refundable because it secures the dedicated time and expertise of our design team. Throughout this phase, our team invests significant hours in developing custom design concepts, guiding material selections, conducting site visits, and collaborating through meetings to create a personalized plan for your project.

Is my Design Agreement applied to my remodel?

Yes, 100%.

How many payments should I expect?

Most projects have 4–8 progress payments.

Do payments follow a calendar schedule?

No. They follow construction milestones.

Will I know my payment schedule before construction starts?

Absolutely.

What happens if my project changes during construction?

We invest significant time during the design phase to thoughtfully plan every detail of your project before construction begins. This collaborative process helps minimize surprises, reduce the need for changes during construction, and provide a clear understanding of the scope, timeline, and investment.

If unforeseen conditions are uncovered once construction is underway, or if you choose to make changes after the design has been finalized, those adjustments are documented through a Change Order. Any associated cost or schedule impacts are communicated and approved before the work proceeds.

Clarity First. Confidence Every Step of the Way.
