The Connected Kitchen in Matthews

After nearly 20 years in their Matthews home, these homeowners were ready for a kitchen and keeping room that better reflected how they live today. The keeping room is one of their most-used spaces, but walls between the two rooms obstructed views of the TV and made the kitchen feel disconnected.

By opening the kitchen to the keeping room, we created a more functional, unified space designed for cooking, gathering, and relaxing. A new dry bar adds both storage and a dedicated spot for entertaining, while a paneled refrigerator blends seamlessly into the cabinetry and marble countertops bring an elevated, timeless finish. Warm stained wood, natural materials, and rich contrast work beautifully with the home’s existing Brazilian cherry floors, creating a space that feels polished yet inviting.
